Step by step
Create a reliable rhythm
Take your puppy out after waking, eating, drinking, play, and naps—and before bed. Young puppies need many chances to succeed.
Go to the same spot
Keep the trip calm and boring until your puppy finishes. A consistent area and simple cue can help build the association.
Reward right away
The moment your puppy finishes in the right place, warmly praise and give a treat outside. Timing helps make the lesson clear.
Manage accidents kindly
Supervise closely indoors, interrupt only gently if you catch an accident, and clean thoroughly. Do not punish—your puppy is still learning.
Keep in mind
If your puppy suddenly changes elimination habits or seems uncomfortable, contact your veterinarian.
